22:30 JAM SESSION
Saturday - 27/11/2021 @Art Studio 55
10:00 Improvisation workshop with Stathis Anninos
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to approach music and its elements through improvisation and direct practice. Through a series of interactive games and group exercises that trigger imagination, enhance collaboration and encourage personal expression, participants will be led to free improvisation and, from there onwards, to the freedom of experimenting with rhythm and melody. Working both on a collective and individual level, musicians will be jointly setting the “rules” deriving from the process of music practice.
The workshop is addressed to musicians and singers of all ages and levels.
Participants must have their own instruments.
22:00 Trio Frisson
Trio Frisson will be performing original compositions from their catalogue, including a number of new songs. The songwriting and performance of Jamie Paul (keys and vocals) demonstrates an evolved approach to his craft, combining influences of soul, funk, hip hop and jazz into a unique blend. Byron Athinodorou (6-string bass & backing vocal) will combine, in his basslines and harmonies, special effects with raw musical talent and years of experience, while Alexander Papadopoulos (drums) will lock down the beat with skillful flair and decorations, driving the groove.
Trio Frisson are a small band with a big sound. From their laid-back piano-led serenades to the universe, to funked up ‘head-nodding’ tracks with catchy hooks, the Trio will once again offer a showcase of their new flavours that have made them a popular ensemble across Cyprus.
Trio Frisson is considered one of the leading Soul bands in Cyprus, performing a unique blend of soul, groove, reggae, RnB, world & jazz music. Their repertoire includes more than 15 original songs, and the band is currently finalising its second studio album. Recent performances include Hillside Soul Festival, Technopolis 20, Aphrodite Hills Festival, Cyprus World Music & Jazz Showcase, Afro Banana Festival, Fengaros Festival, Windcraft Festival, Farma Projekt Festival, Moonwalk Paralimni Festival, Street Life Festival, Sarah’s Jazz Club and several other live venues.
