The Jazz & World Music Showcase returns for its fifth amazing edition on the 23rd & 24th of November at Rialto Theatre in Limassol.
The festival is co-organised by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Cyprus Music Information Centre and the Rialto Theatre. Its mission is to promote the music of Cypriot artists and are active within the broader field of improvisational music to the audience of the island and professionals from the music industry abroad, but also to extend their network and opportunities of professional resources.
Moreover, special emphasis is given on informing and educating artists, as well as those involved in the cultural development of the island, regarding the most prominent ways of music production and promotion of today on an international level. This is being accomplished through discussions with music experts and jam sessions.
Festival organizers, producers and representatives of organizations from abroad with whom the Cyprus Music Information Center and Rialto Theatre cooperates will attend the event.
It is also worth mentioning that the ever-growing interest of applicants who would like to participate in the Jazz & World Music Showcase, indicates the necessity of continuing and providing similar opportunities to the numerous musicians who are exploring and investing in the growth of jazz and world music in Cyprus, as a genre.
In addition, each year the showcase is being audio-visually recorder in order to create an archive of the several acts and activities of the festival. The recordings work as an additional medium which the participants can use for further promotion, both domestically and abroad.
The 5th Jazz and World Music Showcase provides a fascinating spectacle for the audience. This year it presents on stage 10 different bands and more than 40 musicians in total. They will be performing original music which is influenced by jazz and world music of various countries and nationalities such as Cyprus, Greece, the Balkans and the Middle East.
